Photography is a kind of empathy

Luc Tsestigh graduated as an art photographer at the St. Lucas Academy in Ghent (Belgium). Since 1994 he runs his own photo studio in Lede (Belgium). His particular vision on photography, pointing that not only talent but especially the interaction with the model or subject is crucial, brought in customers from home and abroad. Amongst his clients are a lot of celebrities.

Luc Tsestigh: “As a photographer I developed my own style. I try to empathise with my model or subject, which often results in unconstrained photography.”

Portraits

His motto ‘Creativity is not only a talent but also a way of operating’ is best demonstrated in portrait photography. Luc: “In my photo studio in Lede, I always have a conversation with my clients in advance. While talking I try to feel the exact expectations of the client, but also who this person really is. What kind of life is he living, what’s his character?” Luc lets the body language speak and uncovers the soul in his portraits. One of his favourite instruments is the close-up shot, because of its highly expressive power. “Customization is very important to me. Stage setting (for instance with medieval costumes) is perfectly possible, a stylist can create a daring or suggestive look – to mention just a few examples.”

Luc Tsestigh’s work is not limited to traditional portraits. Glamour photography, nude or erotic photography, babies, pregnant women, complete portfolios, family photography... Whatever the model wants!

Architecture / Industrial photography

Interiors as well as outdoor shots are two of Luc’s favourite aspects of photography: “I try to capture buildings and other architectural constructions with an eye for their unique characteristics.” For real estate developers he captures successive building phases at construction sites, but also many other companies from various industry sectors rely on the commercial vision of Luc Tsestigh. He shoots on site, but executes also product photography in his photo studio in Lede (Belgium).
